DOST-SEI Scholarship 2024 program is open to apply for all undergraduate college students. Recently, the Department of Science and Technology has announced the launch of its DOST-SEI S & T Scholarship program for the school year 2024-2025.

DOST-SEI Scholarship 2024

Recently, the Science Education Institute – Department of Science and Technology of Philippines has announced on Facebook, that it is calling in applications for DOST-SEI S & T Undergraduate scholarship program for the SY 2024-2025. Students from across the country of Philippines can apply for scholarship.

As per the announcement, “The S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program aims to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources which can steer the country towards national progress.”

The Department of Science and Technology – DOST, offers undergraduate scholarships to Filipino students studying in various education levels, such as:

  • DOST S&T Undergraduate Scholarship – for undergraduate college students pursuing education in science and technology fields.
  • DOST JLSS Scholarship Program – for Junior level students pursuing degree programs in the areas of science and technology in colleges.

DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits

Following is the list of scholarship entitled to a DOST Scholar:

A. Regular Academic Year

Following is the scholarship benefits for a student with Regular Academic Year:

  • Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs) – Actual fees up to ₱40,000.00 / year
  • Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance – ₱10,000.00 / year
  • Monthly Living Allowance – ₱7,000.00 / month
  • Clothing Allowance – ₱1,000.00 (1st Sem of 1st Year Only)
  • Transportation Allowance (for those studying outside of home province) – 1 economy-class roundtrip fare
  • Group Health and Accident Insurance – Premium
  • Thesis Allowance – ₱10,000.00
  • Graduation Allowance – ₱1,000.00

B. Mid-Year TermAllowance (if required in the curriculum)

Following is the scholarship benefits for a student with Mid-Year Term Allowance (if required in the curriculum):

  • Tuition and other school fees – Actual fees up to ₱10,000.00
  • Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance – ₱2,000.00
  • Monthly Living Allowance – ₱7,000.00 / month for two months

Programs under DOST S&T Undergraduate Scholarship

There are two main programs covered under the DOST-SEI S & T Undergraduate scholarship, and they are as follows:

Merit Scholarship

The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship program is also known as NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067 and is given to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and who are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.

RA 7687 / Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994

The Republic Act No. 7687 is also known as the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994” and is given to talented and well deserving students whose families’ socio-economic status does not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators.

Qualifiers of this scholarship must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.

Qualifications for DOST Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for DOST Scholarship, one must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. The applicant must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  2. He or She must be of good moral character and in good health.
  3. Educational Qualification:
    1. Graduating Grade 12 male and female students in SY 2023-2024:
      • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
      • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class
    2. Graduate of Grade 12 before SY 2023-2024 and did not enroll in college yet:
      • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
      • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class
    3. Graduate of high school before the K-12 Program. Must belong to the top 5% of the graduating class.
  4. May have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not qualify for the scholarship; OR may have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award; OR have not taken any DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination.
  5. The applicant must NOT have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units.

Documentary Requirements

Following is the list of documents required to apply for DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship:

  1. Form C – Certificate of Good Moral Character
  2. Form D – Certificate of Good Health
  3. Principal’s Certification
  4. Form Form E1 – Applicant who is Grade 12 Graduating/Graduated student in the STEM strand
  5. Form Form E2 – Applicant who is Grade 12 Graduating/Graduated student in NON-STEM strand and belongs to the upper 5% of the class
  6. Form Form E3 – Applicant who is attending homeschool
  7. Form Form E4 – Applicant who is under the Alternative Learning System
  8. Form Form E5 – Applicant who graduated in High School before the K-12 program and belongs to the upper 5% of the graduating class
  9. Form F – Certificate of Residency
  10. Form G – Parent’s Certification – Applicant has no pending immigration application to another country
  11. Form H – DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination/Award
  12. Form I – Applicant’s Certification of No Post-Secondary Units
  13. Form J – Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian
  14. Recent picture – passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)
  15. Birth Certificate
  16. Proof of Income – Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s or Spouse’s 2022 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension
  17. Notarized Affidavit of Guardianship
  18. Marriage Certificate

DOST Scholarship Application Timeline

Following is the application timeline of DOST scholarship 2024:

  • The Start date of Online Application for DOST Scholarship is 17 October 2023
  • The Last Day of Request for School Inclusion in the E-Application System is 15 December 2023.
  • The Deadline date of DOST-SEI Scholarship Online Application and Uploading of Requirements is 31 December 2023.
  • Please note that the Schedule of Qualifying Examination date is 6-7 April 2024.

Following is the list of things you need to know before applying for the DOST scholarship:

  • Father’s Annual Gross Income
  • Mother’s Annual Gross Income
  • If applicant is married, Spouse’s Annual Gross Income
  • If Legal Guardian is supporting Applicant, Legal Guardian’s Annual Gross Income
  • If family receives contribution from outside source: the giver, the amount of the contribution and the purpose of the contribution
  • If family owns agricultural land: how many hectares
  • If family owns vehicle: type, year and model
    • Type: Ex. tricycle, passenger jeep, owner jeep, car, van
    • Year and Model: Ex. 2022 Toyota Revo
